Call for Proposals is now open!

Share your expertise and build your profile in international education by submitting a proposal to present at AIEC 2023 in October in Adelaide. This year’s theme “international education: visionary and transformative” focuses on the role that innovation plays in transforming the experiences of our students and the communities in which they live, work and study. Motivated by Adelaide’s pioneering history of reinvention and transformation, we invite you to join us this October to:
  • identify the present and future global challenges to our profession and what we need to do to overcome them
  • forge the strategies needed to meet the demands of the ‘new normal’ in which we now operate
  • discover new ways to support our students in their study and career journeys
  • set a clear vision for international education with innovation at its core.

Adelaide (Tartanya) - a liveable, friendly, forward-thinking city

Leaders in international education will gather at AIEC 2023 in Adelaide (Tarntanya), on the lands of the Kaurna people, to celebrate the transformative power of international education and highlight the role of visionary thinking in fostering a more sustainable, inclusive and equitable world.

This year’s theme, ‘International education: visionary and transformative’, was inspired in part by the progressive spirit of the city of Adelaide, a pioneering city in more ways than one.

Adelaide was the first Australian city to be planned and developed by free settlers without convict labour, and the first to have an elected council. South Australia was the first Australian state to grant women, including Aboriginal women, the right to vote for and stand as parliamentary candidates. It was also the first state to decriminalise homosexuality.

In recent years, Adelaide has quickly become a technological highland with a global impact. It has developed transformative innovations in multiple fields including AI, cybersecurity, robotics, smart sensors and big data.

Its forward-thinking spirit can be seen in the state’s investment into future industries such as clean technologies and water management, defence, bioscience, aerospace and aviation, education, mining and energy, food and wine, agriculture and aquaculture, information and communication technology, and advanced manufacturing.
